Chapter 10

Refreshed Touches

Nidaw

The knowledge that someone was behind xem was exhilarating enough, but having Derya standing in front xem and looking as if xe was a treat to take from a tray. . . this was something xe’d thought would never happen to xem.

Zia pressed against xem, letting xem know she was still there, still a part of it, but it was when Derya joined them on the bed, and the mattress dipped, that xe realized this was really happening. All those years, decades of telling xemself it was alright to be alone, that xe’d chosen to be alone. . . And now there was an extremely handsome fae in front of xem, a beautiful fae behind xem, and a place out of the grasp of xyr House.

“What have you done before?” asked Derya, nestling by Nidaw. “I’m not trying to shame you or anything. I just want to make sure I don’t accidentally hurt you, and that you know you can stop at any point during this.”

“Derya, if you don’t hurry and kiss me again, I’m going to be annoyed at you.” Nidaw tried to keep the tone light, even though it was true and xe was trying to keep xemself from reaching out and throttling the fae for delaying even a single moment. “I’m an adult. I’ve been one for several years and if this is going to be my one night to do things which have only been dreams, then I wish not to waste any more time. Think about it. Every time I’ve touched someone besides you, it’s been painful. What do you think I’ve done, or haven’t done?”

Derya nodded, smiling. “Okay, okay, you’ve got a point. You have to tell me if I hurt you, though, okay?”

“I will.”

“Good.”

Nidaw didn’t get a chance to speak much after that because Derya had closed the distance and was kissing xem fiercely, stealing all the air from xem and making xem swoon—thankfully they were on the bed, so xe didn’t fall, but allowed xemself to be pressed up harder against Zia.

This time, though, xe wasn’t going to simply take the kiss. Xe allowed xyr fingers to move over Derya’s chest, catching at the buttons on his shirt. He broke apart from the kiss, and Nidaw felt a sense of satisfaction that the man was panting.

“Is that what you want? Me, bare chested?”

Xe didn’t answer, but simply continued popping the buttons from their holes and watching skin be revealed as fabric fell away.

“You are very. . . muscular.”

Derya laughed. “It comes from a little bit of everything. Family genetics, since my father and mother are certainly heftier than many other fae. The life I live as a frostweaver.”

“You seem almost Dwarfish?”

“Dwarves are just another species of fae, and honestly, I wouldn’t be too surprised if there were some in my ancestry, forgotten over the decades.”

There was noise from Nidaw’s other side, then Zia apparently removed the sheet muffling her. “Don’t forget to let me see later on, too!”

“I’ll do a dance for you,” laughed Derya.
